when you know the truth, why do people deny it?

We deny the truth, because we aren't strong enough to handle the truth.
Tell us the truth, time and time again, but we won't listen.
We all have our opinions on "right/wrong", "truth/lies".
You can deny the truth all you want, but its still what happened.
You may say "oh that's a lie. It never happened."
It happened. Now, you gotta move on:/
