Growing Up

"mommy whats wrong?", the little girl asked, frightened by the noise.

"go to your room and stay there until i come and get yu...now Leigh.", her mother replied quietly.

the small seven year old girl nodded to her mother before grabbing the teddy bear from her chair and running to her room. once locked away, the girl crawled under the bed, as she always did during her parents' fights.

"dear God, please make them stop. make them fall in love again. please help my mommy and daddy. Amen.", the little girl said a quick, silent prayer as she listened to the fight.

everything crashing...more yelling...plates breaking...screaming...

"its all her fault we're in this situation! its your fault for keeping her. if yu woulda listened to me, we wouldnt have that insignificant, ungrateful little girl to deal with!", her father argued back at her mother.

the little girl began to softly sob as it only got worse...thinking it as her fault....somehow she knew it would never get better...

"sorry mommy...sorry daddy...i have to do whats best for yu...i love yu...", she said, climbing out from under the bed.

within the ten minutes it took for her to gather her clothes into a backpack, stuffing her teddy in the side pocket, she was forced to grow up. she was forced to face the reality of the world. she was forced to not be afraid of what was to come next. she would make it.

the girl took one last look around the room and notices her family photo by her bed. she runs and grabs it, shoving it in the side pocket, with her teddy bear. she cried silent;y as she climbed out through the window and slowly started down the street...leaving the place she once called home... she takes one last look at the small house and continues on her way.

houurs later, the exhausted seven year old girl stumbles into a small park. the sun is just now setting; she drags herself to one of the swings and slumps onto it... she cries to herself, knowing that she has no where to go..no one to turn to...as it gets darker, the small girl gets frightened. she's never been left alone in the dark.

"dear God, please keep me safe through out this first, scary night. Amen.", she whispers, looking around the park.

she sees someone approaching the park, so she wipes her eyes and smile; trying her hardest to look happy. the people quickly pass, paying no attention to the little girl. she grabs her bag and goes to the top of the tallest slide. she pulls her teddy bear and her family picture out.

"i miss yu mommy. i love yu daddy; even if yu dont love me...", she whispers, as she cuddles to the teddy bear and drifts off to sleep...

Every Angel goes through pain before becoming their perfect selves....
